High bacteria levels detected at several LA County beachesHigh bacteria levels prompted Los Angeles County health officials to warn swimmers to stay out of the water at several popular beaches.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- High bacteria levels prompted Los Angeles County health officials Thursday to warn swimmers to stay out of the water at several popular beaches.

The affected beaches are:

-- Avenue I storm drain at Redondo Beach, 100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain;

-- Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu, 100 yards up and down the coast from the public restrooms;

-- Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes Estates, 100 yards up and down the coast from the creek;

-- Redondo Beach Pier, 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier;

-- Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey, entire swim area;

-- Santa Monica Pier, 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier;

-- Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove, 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier; and

-- Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, entire swim area.

Meanwhile, a previous warning was lifted for the following beach areas where recent sample results identified water quality levels within state standards:

-- 40th Street extension in Manhattan Beach;

-- Manhattan Beach Pier;

-- Hermosa Beach Pier; and

-- Redondo Beach at Sapphire Street.
