LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Five years after his death, a $10,000 reward is now being offered to help find the person who shot and killed a man in West Rancho Dominguez.
Edgar Vasquez was fatally shot the night of July 6, 2020, as he was leaving to go to work. His mother, Gabriela Moreno, said he was on his way to work the graveyard shift at City of Hope.
Multiple shots were fired at his car that night, leaving Vasquez dead.
Moreno spoke out during a news conference on Thursday alongside cold case detectives, pleading for help.
"I'm standing here on behalf of my son Edgar Vasquez whose life was taken tragically on his way to work," she said.
"I'm pleading with the community to say something," she added. "There is someone out there who saw something. I want justice for my son's case. There are too many cold cases out there."
The sheriff's department said new video shows two men running from the scene that night.
"We were able to see that there was a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and a black Silverado truck that also left the scene of incident, and we're hoping the public can give us information regarding those vehicles or those possible suspects," said LASD Homicide Lieutenant Chris Oakley.
Moreno, who was wearing a T-shirt sporting her son's smiling face, said her son will always remain in her heart.
"He's always missed," she said. "Always remembered, and he's always with us."
Anyone with information is urged to contact the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
