Dashcam video shows suspected bike thief running from police in Monrovia

MONROVIA, Calif. (KABC) -- New dashcam video captured the dramatic moments a Monrovia police officer was chasing after a suspected bike thief.

The incident happened last Tuesday.

According to the Monrovia Police Department, officers received multiple calls about a man jumping fences into people's backyards.

Police say the suspect stole a bike and rode onto the Monrovia High School Campus. He then abandoned the bike and took off running.

The dashcam footage shows an officer running after the suspect, who was quickly apprehended.

Police say the bicycle has since been returned to its owner.
