BIG BEAR, Calif. (KABC) -- They grow up so fast! One of Jackie and Shadow's two eaglets has officially left the nest.

Many have been watching the Big Bear eagles webcam as the two eaglets -- Sunny and Gizmo -- were getting ready to take flight.

On Monday morning, just before 11, Sunny took off, and it was all caught on video. Now, we're waiting for Gizmo to fledge the nest.

According to an update posted on the Friends of Big Bear Valley Facebook page, Sunny and Gizmo are sisters!

"Well, first, they are both bigger than Shadow, and for eagles, the male is smaller than the female by about a third," said Sandy Steers, the executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley. "Gizmo was pretty obvious, she's almost as big as Jackie. Sunny was a little bit harder, and we had to do vocal analysis. The males have a much higher pitch frequency than the females, so we were able to pin it down to Sunny also being female."

Apparently, Gizmo tried to catch up with Sunny this week after she first attempted to fly.

Over the weekend, however, Gizmo showed "serious flapping skills" and was even captured hopping and jumping.

The sisters are 12 weeks old, and the timing of this first flight is on track. Typically, it happens between 10 to 14 weeks.

Next, experts say the sisters will learn how to hunt. For now, their parents -- Jackie and Shadow -- are still providing meals in the form of fish caught out of the lake.

"It will be sad to not see them as much and to know they're going on their own. At the same time, I'm thrilled they got this far, and to see them get to the point of fledging and to be healthy and happy is a great celebration," Steers said.

Jackie and Shadow captivated the internet and wildlife enthusiasts earlier this year as viewers waited for the chicks to hatch.

Students in a 3rd grade classroom at Highland Oaks Elementary School in Arcadia were watching live when Sunny took fight on Monday, and their precious reactions were caught on camera.

"We've been watching these eagles since January with this class. We study birds of prey, and this is just a nice way to bring real nature in the classroom," said teacher Lisa Arnerich. "I always have the birds on one screen, so they're not constantly on the big screen, but all of a sudden, I looked over and I saw one was missing, so I rewound it a little bit and was able to show the kids, and they were super excited."
