SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Memorial Day weekend got off to a violent start in South Los Angeles on Saturday. Los Angeles police are investigating a triple shooting with two people killed.

Los Angeles police responded to a multi-victim shooting scene around 6:30 p.m. at Dalton Avenue and Florence Avenue.

Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, LAPD said. A woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

At one point, police had to contend with a rowdy crowd gathered at the scene. Meanwhile, officers were searching for the suspects behind the deadly shooting.

It was an expansive scene, with activity around the area of the shooting and about a block away, where the suspects reportedly ditched their getaway car and tried to flee on foot.

The suspects apparently didn't make it far. LAPD's search was confined to just a few blocks south of Florence Avenue in the Manchester Square neighborhood. LAPD's air support had been circling the area for hours. One person was taken into custody, but two suspects were still outstanding.

"There are two outstanding suspects, two male, Black suspects in their 20s. If you see something, we're asking that you please call 911. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous," a spokesperson with LAPD said at the scene. "The perimeter is current behind me, and we are actively searching with K-9 sources, as well as SWAT staged at the scene."

An Eyewitness News crew saw two large SWAT vehicles -- the Bearcat and the Bobcat -- arrive at the search to potentially help get the suspects out from wherever they were hiding.

Investigators believed the suspects were still nearby, within the perimeter.
